²⁴ God is spirit,^(A) and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”^(B)

²⁵ The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah^[a](C) is coming” (who is called Christ^(D)). “When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”

²⁶ “I am He,”^(E) Jesus told her, “the One speaking to you.”
